Early Filipino Customs

Filipinos have strong family ties. They keep their families together as much as possible. They have religious practices from birth to death, evidenced by baptism, confirmation, first communion, wedding and burial rites. During courtship, there are also practices that are called "panilbihan" and "pamanhikan" done by the groom-to-be. Celebration of Fiestas, Christmas and New Year are observed to gather the family together which gives opportunities to family members to update each others whereabouts and give thanks to God for all the blessings!

Taking Pride at Our Country

Philippines is a blessed country, blessed by not only hospitable people but also rich natural resources that can supply all the needs of the Filipino people. These blessings can also be shared with all people visiting our country. We are rich with beautiful scenic spots all over the nation. We have mines in Baguio City, Chocolate Hills in Bohol, Rice Terraces in Banaue Seafoods in Palawan, to name a few. So the Tourism Authority people must always be busy!..

The Significance Of Natural And Human Resources Of The Philippines To Our Nation

The Natural and Human Resources are important to us because without them we cannot live. Trees are important to prevent floods because the roots of the trees absorb water. Trees, plants and animals give us food to eat. God gave us the natural resources of the earth because He knew we need them to supply our needs. People have different talents that can help each other. People too are made so that we will have our social life. Everything is made by God because He wants us to live happily and we give Him thanks for everything!..

Effects of Population Explosion in The Philippines

Population explosion is considered as one of the undisputable alarming obstacles that stand on the path of the less developed countries. These countries produce great numbers in terms of human resources because the birth rate is much higher than in the rich countries, but the rate of employment and production in the poor countries is very low. Definitely this is a very serious problem that the government should never take for granted. The Philippines belong to the group of these “less developed countries.” And as we all know, the growth of population in our country is unstoppable. In fact, the Philippine population is one of the fastest growing countries in the world. It is estimated that 3,000 Filipino babies are born every day, 100,000 every month, or one million a year to roun

In point of fact, our national government declared many programs that emphasize the importance of family planning in order to reduce the growth rate of the population. However, because of some negative effects brought by these artificial methods, and, as mentioned earlier, these cultural and religious bases, many couples do not use them. But most of them have their own individual solutions, and disparities over formulas had often blocked efforts to come up with a solution. So many families are not aware of the programs regarding the population explosion that we have now. For this reason, our country becomes poorer, and the people get stuck in this sticky situation of poverty and squalor. In this lies the problem: at first, the babies need milk, diapers and vitamins. Providing them creates a large number of problems that demand the fullest utilization of the nation's resources. And when they do, they need education, which requires more school structures; they need food, clothing, houses, jobs, etc. This rapid growth of population is quite hard to endure for it really affects both the social and economic condition of our country. However, population growth cannot be controlled easily because of cultural and religious reasons, not to mention, the Philippines is known to be very conservative and very much Catholic, in its broadest sense. But the trouble is, babies grow up. These are basic needs that must be filled. There will be more babies born 20 years from now than the number of babies that are born this day. There are more babies being born today than there were in the 1970s.
